Quay Appointments is proud to announce its partnership with NSW Electoral Commission for staffing the 2024 NSW Local Government Elections.

 

The partnership creates 1000 short term casual job opportunities working at Sydney Showgrounds, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush.


Jobs will include Data Entry and Clerical positions from 14 September, Election Day, to 28 September 2024.

 

Quay Appointments will staff the “Centralised Declaration Vote Count Centre” and “Sydney Count Centre”. This will include a range of staffing services.

  • Hours of Work

    8.30am to 5.30pm (less a 30-minute scheduled lunch break)

  • Working Dates

    Start 14/15 or 16 September to 26/27 or 28 September (10 to 14 days work)


    All work has been assessed on expected quantity of ballot papers however as this quantity is not known until after Election Day, we can only estimate the proposed end dates.

    • Postal Scrutiny

    • Extraction

    • Data Entry Officer

    • Gate Keeper

    • Initial Count & Batching Officer

    • Initial Reconciliation Officer

    • Materials Receipt Officer

    • Supervisor

    • Senior Supervisor

  • Hourly Rates of Pay

    • From $32.73 to $37.78

    • Pending your position

    • PLUS overtime and Saturday penalties 

    • Pay rates quoted do NOT include superannuation

  • Parking (at your own expense)

    Unfortunately, there is strictly no onsite parking.


    Sydney Olympic Park has over 10,000 parking spaces site wide. Carparks P1, P5 and P6 are near Sydney Showground.


    Costs: $7 per hour, up to a maximum fee of $35 per day. We are in the process of negotiating a discounted rate for Quay staff.


    Parking will be at your own expense. A carpool with co-workers may be a good option. Work and travel together and share the expense.


    The car park is a 10–15-minute walk to the Pavilions.

  • Eligibility/Essential Criteria

    To apply for a position in our 2024 Elections Team please review the information below criteria to ensure you have the skills, experience, and are available to work for the duration of the assignment.  


    Essential Criteria


    Electoral Roll: You must be an Australian Citizen who is on the NSW or Commonwealth electoral roll. Proof of Electoral Roll will be required and verified


    Impartiality: You will be required to declare you have no active or official connection with any political party, any election campaign committee, or any person who has nominated as a candidate for an election in a district or region


    Australian Working Rights


    Availability to work: To maximise the earning potential of our team and minimise staffing resources we require you to be available to work all hours and all days. This will include a minimum commitment of 10 days and up to 14 days depending on the position you are offered.


    Elections Experience is viewed favourably but not essential


    Attention to Detail and High-Level Accuracy


    Confident computer skills when applying for Scrutiny or Data Entry positions


    Proficient in numeric or alpha numeric data entry – minimum of 7,000ksph if applying for one of the count centre data entry or scrutiny officer positions


    Team Work absolutely essential for the successful delivery of this event
