Primary purpose of the role

The Portfolio PMO and Technology Governance Manager guides the successful delivery of programs and projects through the provision of strategic and operational support, including pipeline planning, portfolio reporting, portfolio risk and issue tracking, quality control and post project benefits tracking and within the Division and to the EPMO.
This is a hand one role and there won’t be any direct report to that role

Key accountabilities

Operational Performance

  • Design and operate a process for the optimal selection, prioritisation and sequencing of the Corporate IT program portfolio and investment allocation. Drive alignment with Client Business plans and Group IT Strategy
  • Design and operate the governance system to provide an integrated view of portfolio activity, health (i.e. progress against target outcomes), and drive decision making from Project to Executive level to effectively balance risk and outcomes across the program portfolio
  • Work with Project leads to provide guidance and support to optimise project performance


  • Perform Governance through adherence to Divisional and Group policies and standards
  • Conduct quality assurance of program and project health
  • Provide portfolio level reporting and insights, facilitate and perform decision making

Key knowledge and experience

  • The role is suited for an experienced PMO and Governance lead with strong influencing skills and someone who is a doer as you will be working largely on your own initially
  • Senior experience managing the delivery of portfolio services within large and complex organisation’s
  • 10+ years in Program, Project delivery across diverse range of projects. 5 years’ experience working in Portfolio Governance
  • Business and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience in driving investment decision making from a cost and value perspective
  • Proven effective Senior Executive stakeholder management, engagement and influencing
  • The ability to bring together individuals with different perspectives and opinions, and drive towards a common goal, including excellent facilitation, teaming and negotiation / influencing skills
  • Superior analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including financial analysis, report writing and presentation skills with emphasis on addressing IT portfolio assurance management issues and practices
  • Proactivity – person who seeks out solutions to issues without waiting to be told
