Financial Controller Senior Leadership Role | Complex, Multi-Entity Environment
Sydney CBD
Flexible working arrangements but mostly on-site

This is a high-impact opportunity for a confident and commercially astute Financial Controller to step into a pivotal leadership role within a large, complex organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions.
You will act as the trusted financial advisor to senior executives, bringing both technical excellence and the ability to influence at the highest levels. This role goes beyond traditional financial control — it requires a leader who can navigate complexity, drive accountability, and build strong executive relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.

The Opportunity
Reporting to senior finance leadership (Director of Finance and Group CFO), you will take ownership of the organisation’s financial control function, ensuring the integrity of financial operations, statutory reporting, compliance, and governance.
You will lead multiple specialist teams and play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening controls, and supporting executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end financial control function, including statutory reporting, audit, taxation, and general ledger integrity
  • Act as a key advisor to the executive and senior leadership team, providing clear, confident guidance on complex financial matters
  • Own and manage critical external relationships, including auditors and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across multiple entities and jurisdictions
  • Drive strong financial governance, risk management, and internal controls
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business to support strategic decision-making and performance outcomes
  • Oversee specialist functions including revenue recognition, grants/program funding, and taxation
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to finance strategy, policy development, and executive-level reporting forums
What You Bring
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader within a large, complex environment
  • We would welcome applicants from Banking, Commercial, Financial Services and Government
  • Exceptional executive presence, with the ability to confidently engage, influence, and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Deep technical expertise in financial reporting, accounting standards, and taxation
  • Strong track record managing external audits and regulatory relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, technically skilled teams and drive performance
  • Highly developed commercial acumen and problem-solving capability
  • Experience operating in environments with complex funding, compliance, or multi-entity structures is highly regarded
Why This Role Stands Out
  • True enterprise-level impact with visibility across senior leadership
  • Opportunity to shape and strengthen financial governance in a complex environment
  • A role that combines technical depth with strategic influence
  • Significant scope to lead, mentor, and elevate a large finance function
If you’re a confident financial leader who thrives in complexity and can build credibility at the executive level, this role offers a rare opportunity to step into a high-profile, influential position.
