Quote of the Day
Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.

How many faces can you find?

This logo for Pittsburgh Zoo is a nice illusion. As well as the tree, what animals can you see?

New Generations, New Trends

Presented by: Mark McCrindle
5th September 2006.

The future is shaped not just by the technological changes but also the sociological changes. Indeed an understanding of the lifestyles and attitudes of the 21st Century workforce, as well as the new characteristics and expectations of today's clients is critical to future success.

Our world is experiencing the biggest generational change since the birth of the Post-war Baby Boomers. Increasingly Baby Boomers are downshifting, Generation Xers are wealth accumulating, and the Y's are today's emerging employees and real estate buyers. Yet the new generations have a radically different approach to purchasing, lifestyle, and finances.

In this session, Mark will outline the new demographics, social trends, and generational diversity. Based on the latest research, he will define the attitudes, values, and workplace priorities of today's graduates, and provide strategies to better connect and communicate in these changed times.

Key issues:

  • From Boomers & Builders, to Generations X & Y: understanding the changes in demographics, financial characteristics, and aspirations.
  • The 4 biggest social trends redefining the business landscape.
  • Australia in 2020: the new workplace demographics.
  • The top 5 attraction and retention factors for the Under 30's.
  • The ideal 21st Century workplace: how does it look and feel?
  • Managing & leading intergenerational teams in individualistic times.
  • Understanding the attitudes, & values of the diverse generations.
  • Training & communicating with the digital generation.
  • Understanding the hot-buttons & values of the ever-changing customer.
  • Gen X and Y friendly managers - what they're doing right.
