Communicating feedback effectively

Join us for the next breakfast meeting at Quay Appointments - 5th July, 2005.

Presented by: Veronica Van Nierop

Each of us views our world, its expectations and our performance in it differently. How do we know that we and those to whom we give professional feedback are "all on the same page"?

Being clear on how we communicate feedback to others so that they are able to accept the feedback and see it as empowering support rather than criticism.

You will come away with some practical advice and tips on how to:

  • Approach the communication
  • Select the phraseology
  • Deliver effective feedback

It can be sometimes difficult to communicate feedback particularly when the worker is doing a great job, but there are just a few small areas that need tackling. How do you say it and what do you say without de-motivating the individual?

  • Effectively communicating about the big picture and all its components is essential.
  • Understanding the difference between confidence and competencies is vital.
  • The ability to make these distinctions clearly with the company's and the individuals' outcomes is pivotal in the win-win process of corporate life.

Veronica Van Nierop has some 25 years of academic, clinical and consulting experience, and has for the last decade pursued a particular interest in the relationship between successful outcome achievement and effective communication. She has specialised in neurological and linguistic aspects of communication and motivation. Her expertise is in bridging the gap with clients who are committed to the realisation of their goals and the quality of their communication with others.

The effectiveness of her work lies in her skill of developing unique tailor made processes for each individual client. She currently works with business leaders and their teams in clarifying outcomes, mapping strategies and simplifying communication, necessary for achieving excellence.
