"Profiling for Talent Retention"

Presented by: Trevor O'Sullivan
14th November, 2006.

Look at any business magazine on any given day and you will find an article relating to the "Skills Shortage" and/or "The War for Talent". These are two very real and very large issues for managers. Not only is there a shortage of skills but there is a battle over who gets them and more importantly who keeps them.

Retaining key people is what makes a great manager. All the studies show that people leave managers not jobs and that we hire for skills and fire for attitude! Knowing more about the people before you hire them and how to best manage them once hired is critical to winning in the war for talent.

As we move further into the skills shortage companies need ways to identify who fits where in their organisation. Managers will have to move away from the idea of hiring people with experience and start hiring people new to the industry/role. But how do we know who can cut it and who can't?

In this one hour session you will gain insight into:

  • The importance of knowing what you seek
  • Identifying talent over skills
  • The importance of managing your team to their strengths
